The Underground will make Kadikoy to Kartal only 29 minutes - Istanbul Metro
The excavation of underground tunnel from Kadikoy to Kartal is now complete. The line will make the travel distance from Kadikoy to Kartal, only 29 minutes. The line is 2.17 km long. More than 76% of the work to open the underground is now complete. The underground of Istanbul is expected to open on December 2011.
Only Kadikoy- Kartal section will carry appx 1 million people per day and it is expected to cost 1,5 billion dollar to complete.
When the project is complete, there will be connection with the Marmaray Project (that links the Asia and Europe from underground). This would provide accessibility from underground all over Istanbul.
