The prime minister Mr Erdogan stated that Istanbul needs a third airport very soon. The number of planes using the two airports are very large. Only Turkish Airlines will have more than 200 planes by 2014. Due to the lack of enough capacity, there are delays. Istanbul Mayor said although they are still working on the plans, they expect the airport to be built in Silivri area. In addition, Sabihe Gokcen Airport will have a new runway very shortly and Ataturk Airport will have one in the next few years. Areas in Istanbul which are close to the airports have witnessed a high demand from investors as the rental market is very good. Beylikduzu and Esenyurt are two areas where property prices are increasing greatly as they are only ten minutes drive from Ataturk International Airport.
