Besiktas was founded in the 17th century and it was the capital city of both Byzantine and Ottoman periods. There are palaces, museums, maritime and pavilions. Besiktas is home to Cıragan Palace, Dolmabahce Palace, Yıldız Palace and Feriye Palace. In Besiktas, you can visit mosques, churches and synagogues all in the same area.
