After you travel 72 km. on the Antalya - Alanya highway, you will reach Side which is one of the most famous tourism centres today. Side is famous for its ruins belonging to the Roman Empire. It is said that Side was founded in a small peninsula in Mediterranean. It goes back to the 7th century B.C. and to the periods of Kymes. Kyme people forgot themselves day by day and began to use Side language. Thus, they became integrated with local people. According to the local language, Side means  ‘ Pomegranate’ as pomegranate was the symbol of fertility in Anatolia.
The last and largest residence existed in 1895 by Turks who migrated from Girit Island. Today, the main street which is covered with asphalt reaches the port where these people arrived Side just behind agora and the theatre. Side has been one of the busiest ports of the Mediterranean. Today, the repaired bath complex is used as Side Museum. All the founding from the excavations are exhibited in different sections of the museum.
Side Theatre has typical Roman Period characteristics. It has 15.000 people capacity. There is the temple of Dionysus in front of the monumental entrance. Two temples which are at the end of the main street are the most famous buildings of the Roman Period. One of them belongs to Athena, and the other one belongs to Apollon.
Historical Monuments in Side: Great City Doors, East Doors, Water Belts, Great Monumental Fountains, Colonel Street, Houses, Agora, Monumental Library and State Agora, Bishop Palace and Basilica, Vespasian us Fall, Theatre, Men Temple, the Temple of Bacchus, Great Harbour Bath, Harbour Bath , Apollo Temple, the Temple of Athena, Side Harbour , Side Museum.
Transportation: The connection between Manavgat and other centres is by highways. Bus companies provide transportation from the west of Antalya and from east of Alanya to other towns and cities. Minibus (dolmus) tours operate between Manavgat Waterfall, Side and Sorgun.

Side Property : Side is a much smaller town when compared to the closeby city of Antalya. There are less number of properties available on the market and the property prices are slightly higher than prices in Antalya and Alanya. The price for a brand new 2 bedroom flats start from £59,000.
