History of Kalkan Area and Kalkan property

Kalkan  took its name from Xanthus river which means ‘yellow’.  Xanthus, which was one of the most important cities of Lycia region in the Hellenistic and Roman periods, was the administrative centre of Lycia. The city was developed in 1st and 2nd BC and lived its golden years during these dates, however it was abandoned with the invasion of Arabs in 7th the century.
Herodotus stated in 400 BC that Kalkan is "the closest place to the stars in the world ".
The area used to attract attention with its stunning beauty and it still does with its long sandy beaches and forests. Majority of the properties (mainly villas ) in the destination benefits from this magnificent beauty.
