Foca Area Info and Foca Property
Foca is a pretty holiday village, located 65 km away from the centre of Izmir. It is a coastal town that preserved its charm by keeping its history until today. Although the destination has 36,000 residents living permanently in the area, during summer time, this number goes up to above 70,000. Foca stretches along two bays, called Buyukdeniz and Kucukdeniz. Most of the Foca area is under strict environmental protection due to its natural beauty. Foca is famous for its stunning nature, crystal clear waters and Blue Flag bays.
Foca has a section called Yenifoca (New Foca), which is 20 km away from the Foca town centre. This is why Foca centre is also named as Eskifoca (Old Foca). The area has a historical feel to it due to the number of old Greek buildings still remaining. Old Foca is a historical conservation area. Archaeological sites are common in the area with several open to public to visit. Although there are several sites discovered such as the Persian Mausoleum, theatre dating back to 330 B.C., fortress and ramparts and Roman mosaics, majority of the ancient sites are still underground.
Foca has beautiful beaches that are not overcrowded and small restaurants with delicious food. Especially fish restaurants are popular as Foca was a fishing town previously and these days fresh fish is brought to the town every day by fishermen.
