Mr Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced two new exciting projects for Istanbul, one in each side of the Bosporus. One will be constructed in the European side towards to Black Sea coast and an other one for the Anatolian side again towards to Black Sea.

Addition to these projects, the European City will have the biggest airport in Turkey which will have 60 million passenger capacity per annum. This new airport will be one of the biggest airports in the world. The two cities will be connected to each other as well as the centre of Istanbul with the 3rd Bosporus bridge and the fast trains.

The main reason to build these new recreation areas are to rebuild Istanbul with a supreme infrastructure, protect from earthquakes and create new financial hubs for Turkey.
Although these are called new cities, in fact these mega sites are located within the Istanbul city borders. Each site will have the capacity of one million people living in it.
